If you’re on the internet, you’ve probably read the news that a New York jury just found Donald Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation after he was sued by the writer E. Jean Carroll, who says he raped her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s. Trump didn’t even bother to show up to the trial; his lawyer’s entire case was “she’s lying.”
A jury disagreed, and awarded Carroll $5 million in damages. A few notes and observations:
