I'm always about to write, then I read your posts. You say exactly what I am thinking. I wish you were not just talking to those of us who already share your beliefs. Getting through to others is so difficult, even if you can get an audience of one. Thank you anyway.

Yes, protest. It’s certainly necessary. I do not think protest is enough. Forgive me if I misunderstand. It often sounds to me like we’re trying to win a debate just by saying the other side is mistaken. By itself, this doesn’t get us anywhere. Yes, in a debate, you’re saying the other side is wrong, but if that’s all you say, you lose the debate. JF has very cogent, coherent arguments here. I just want the arguments. Let’s puts the lie to the lying SOB’s who are actively, demonstrably hurting people—in the name of morality! It’s not that we shouldn’t be mad, but an opponent can take your power away by making you mad. You may feel pumped up, but your energy is all about reacting. We need to dismiss the nonsense on the other side rather than dwell on it. What we have to say is much more valid, compelling, true. We need to argue in terms of what’s right, not how wrong the other side is. Their tactic is to put us off balance by being outrageous. Let’s come right back at them, not just with outrage but with common sense. Easier said than done, I realize, in these times when discourse is conducted through electronic media that favor hype, shock, distraction, hostility, etc.
