Jill, I really like your take. As a European, it is difficult for me to understand what is happening in the US. I agree with a lot of what you say. What bugs me though is the accepted amorality of employers. Why is it ok for employers to fire people if they become a PR nuisance? Rather than policing the protests, why not simply expect employers to push back on demands when they are without evidence or merit. Accepting amorality of employers is what feels most broken in capitalist societies, not least given their outsized influence on people’s lives and livelihoods
