Hard truth here and, alas, the truth doesn't set you free or, at least, not very often. I hadn't yet allowed myself even to think the words "Elizabeth Warren wouldn't have won," but I'm grateful to you for typing them. Now I'm going to go cuddle my cat and scream (quietly) into the abyss.
A thoughtful and thought-provoking piece. But didn't I read somewhere that exit polls indicated many voters were strongly influenced by concern over the economy, and (God only knows why) scored Trump higher than Biden on the question who would do better there? That is, did Biden err by campaigning with too much emphasis on Trump's mismanagement of the COVID-19 crisis (and the unnecessary & avoidable hurt Trump's failure to contain it caused for so many), at the expense of too little emphasis on the Dem's economic agenda that would bring real benefits to Main Street, not just Wall Street ? Would Warren's campaign (had she been the nominee) vs. Trump been better able to persuade voters Trump's economic policies indeed do not serve their best interests, and that her fresh ideas + policies would bring long-overdue change to the worsening wealth-gap and income-inequality that has prevented so many from achieving their fair share of the American dream for so long ? Sadly (and for better or worse), we'll never know. But on the bright side, do you believe there's now hope of a cabinet position for Senator Warren ? (Her presence in the Senate would be sorely missed, but California Governor Newsom could help in that regard by appointing Representative Katie Porter to the Senate seat vacated by Kamala Harris, presuming she becomes our next Vice President ...)
