I share your rage and frustration. Two points. 1. I am an independent voter for a reason. Whenever there has been the opportunity for Democrats to step up, use their position and power to move the needle forward, especially when they are IN power, they have back pedaled and squandered it. 2. There are the beginnings of hand wringing about women not having children. Wonder why they are choosing--CHOOSING--to opt out? At some point, one way or another, there will be choice.
Agree the present moment is a step backwards. Yes, we are right to be mad as hell. Although there have recently been moments that were steps forward—I know what you mean, but MeToo (to name one) is more about power, the power to consent and to decline, to command respect, to demand accountability, than about victimhood— the misnamed Pro-Life forces are gaining. More people support women’s right to choose than support banning abortion. Maybe the solution to backward states’ creepy laws will be federal legislation. Have to get rid of the filibuster first, though. Part of the problem is that access to abortion for the wealthy and privileged is not threatened or denied.
