When I asked most of my family, friends, colleagues and fellow church members why they're voting for Trump in 2020, most said the same thing: they want abortions ended in the US.

Some were less indirect: "I cannot, in good conscience, vote for a baby killer." (For the record, none of Biden, Harris, nor Obama for that matter, have ever killed a baby.)

Many told me they assumed pregnant women seeking an abortion would simply be turned away at the door. Most believed it was the GOVERNMENT'S job to do something about abortion.

This, rather than to form grassroots organizations or to work with churches and other groups to help women keep their babies or to help with adoption services.

And this must-read, comprehensive article by Jill Filipovic describes how putting abortion in the hands of Trump and the Republicans has turned out for them since Roe v Wade was overturned.

Would any of the folks I had spoken with have voted any differently had they known that, rather than to help these women, the Gov't would be hurting them instead?

Probably not.

I agree, probably not.

There has been a push to water down sex ed so that even the knowledge of how pregnancy occurs, how STDs spread and what sexual abuse and rape are is withheld from children in red states. I thought “abstinence only” died in the 1990s!

These measures are so chilling as to sound like they’re in a dystopian novel. I don’t understand how people believe in this stuff and still say they’re pro-life, God-loving family supporters.
