I live in Atlanta and am of Asian descent. I appreciate your perspective and agree that misogyny and racism can be complicated but it it upsets me that a mass murderer is taken at his word that the crime was about sex or sex “addiction” or that he was an evangelical churchgoer which will lead many to assume that the women he shot were selling sex and in some way deserved it. It also further serves to humanize him and dehumanize the people he murdered. What were the victims hopes and dreams, what were their lives like? Unfortunately I don’t think we care to know.

This is so helpful Jill, and a completely new way of seeing how our language (and lack thereof) plays a role in normalizing misogyny. I would like to host you for a discussion, to get you to elaborate on what you shared here. https://onmisogyny.com/ Please let me know if you would be open to an hour long recorded conversation. Thank you.
